One of the Dodge-sponsored builder shootout did just that in Roadkill Nights last weekend! I forget what year Viper it was, but I recall there were no hood mod's, and from the photos and video I saw, the Redeye crate fit great and looked right at home in there. The videos should still be on Dodge You Tube and/or on the Dodge Garage site.
I saw something about that. I wish I had explored it more as I recall the hood looked stock as you said. I wonder if k member sub frame had to be altered to get height down. Thanks for reminder I will scope out that youtube.
This also reminds me of the story about people asking for a 383 dart back in the day. Dodge said it won’t fit under hood. Norm Krause over at Grand Spaulding Dodge dropped one in, and it fit with mild mods, but same hood. Being connected very well with Ma Mopar Norm called over to dodge and said he had one w/ 383 under stock hood with mild mods. Head of engineering asked if Norm would bring the car over to Detroit. He did and the product development head Engineere looked it over then called for all the other engineers to come out look at the car, then asked why the hell they didn’t think it could be done. This led to the 383 GTS then the M code 440 dart being built at the factory. Yes the deck height is 3/4” higher on a Raised block 440 than a big block 383.
Thank you for pausing for station identification now back to our normally scheduled program OP’S. Post.1029 out of factory would suit me fine. Yes I know we certainly can build it for more power with some reliability too but we’re talking about factory built. Nice to have but still not certain I would deal with the mass hysteria and insane ADM for just trying to get possibly the last of Ice high HP.
