youtube.com/shorts/vATYv4b8Pzc?I thought at first I had a bad axle. A little bit of vibration as I was driving. But tonight, I heard popping from under my car as I stepped on it a bit from 30-50, also some smoke came out of the engine as I was driving, and I heard a loud tick. Is it a valve, a bad coil or a plug? I made a short video. But except for a quiver from the engine and a little faint noise nothing noticeable.

I think in the tune a lot of the codes were turned off. I can check the tune and see what I can turn back on.

I would say a bad plug. But white smoke off the drivers side vent a couple of times when accelerating. Not oil. And I am not sure if a bad plug would cause white smoke. It is on E85.

I’m in Tucson. The mechanic I trust is in Phoenix. In two weeks or so I will have it towed there. My mechanic says the white smoke coming out of the drivers side engine bay means something is probably hurt. He does not want me driving it. The oil is a reddish black. I will let the forum know what he finds in two-three weeks.

Maybe an exhaust leak? Did you change the pipes?

Nope. Not in years. I do not think there would be a vibration from the engine from an exhaust leak. I wish. Maybe a head gasket leak on the outside part of the cylinder? I will know in a couple of weeks.

Actually if the leak is before the 02 sensor it could throw off the afr and make an engine feel rough and also have some unburned e85 smoke out of the head/header bad gasket. You never know.

My mechanic is great! So, he first took a temperature of each header. Number 1 was cold. He pulled the spark plug and coil. That fired. He pulled the number 1 injector. Completely clogged due to E85. He scoped the cylinder. Dry. But not melted or anything else. So, with a little bit of luck a cleaning and rebalancing of injectors will do the trick. He said if I run E85 I should always get a cleaning once a year of the injectors.

Interesting. Glad it was not as bad as you feared. So what was the smoke?

Interesting. This is why I run a tank of 93 through my car every month or so. I noticed factory flex fuel vehicles recommend a tank of normal gasoline at least once every oil change.

I guess the question is. Is it dirty because of dirty fuel? Rusted from mostriure ? If it’s from dirty fuel one would think e85 is a better cleaning agent. But if from sitting to much well that’s where e85 isn’t as good. I may run some 93 through end of year and store it like that. I haven’t decided yet. We have snow coming this weekend. Not sure if they will salt. If they do cars getting put up for a while.

He said it was e85 gunk. Has not texted me back on the smoke issue. At dealership with my younger daughters car. Vandalized at a park last night with broken window and they put a hole in the radiator among other things. 2022 keeps on giving! 222 instead of 666!
