It’s an assessed value charged every year based on the MSRP and age of the vehicle. One of the reasons I sold both my Chargers and moving to Florida.

We pay 13 % upfront but no annual fee other then plate renewal
If we sell the car they hit the buyer with 13 % again and again and again

How is South Carolina? I know a guy that moved down there from Pennsylvania and he really likes it. I barely know him, so haven't pressed for details.

It's nice. Supposed to be good for retirees. I know a few people that have moved there. It's hot and humid in the summer, but the winters aren't too bad. Kiplinger's puts out a map of best places to retire and that one is usually high on the list. High chance of hurricanes running through though.....pretty frequent along the coast...so you just have to build/buy accordingly.

Thank you. I'm in Nor California. Physically, I love it here. But given the overall population and it's extreme left wing nature, I want to get the hell outa here.

That's to say nothing about all the Teslas around the area. They, (especially the real hot ones with all wheel drive) want to race me on the Blvd. all the time. They usually have their wife / kids with them. They'll take me off the line and then it's time to stop again, or they'll turn off on a side street, laughing. In the meantime, my car makes all kinds of crazy tire and exhaust noise that attracts the cops. I don't do that anymore, but it's hard to restrain myself. Rat bastards...

yeah.....and they don't get that what your car does is what we find fun and enjoyable....the sound of a healthy V8 and tire smoke.

That must be the only thing they don't have it on because my friends that live there claim they are taxed to death on their motorcycles, boats, and everything else......and when I lived there my boss cried about all the taxes too......and after a year of living there, I left cuz I was not gonna go through continuing to pay taxes on things I had already paid taxes on when I bought them.....so NC is no longer on my personal list of places to retire.
