Well American, Canadian, Mexican, English, Australia and Middle East friends. The dreaded merger IMO is coming to be and us ICE AGE die hards will fund the future of the EV movement. Be sure to read the brief article and it point blank states the mergers goal is to suck the juice out of the ICE AGE sales to develop the EV future. How the hell do we unplug that current of energy thought. Yep us good old boys club buying the Dodge, Jeep and Ram brand is the big ticket PSA and FCA feel will make them a new brand to compete in the world changes. Damn it border line makes me not to want to buy another Dodge, Jeep and Ram product being I am helping the trend of delusion. Anyways I was literally just thinking to myself what happens to the merger and bam this article shows up.

Here is the detailed plan and the new company being based in Netherlands is not comforting while the Peugeot leader would have full control. BYE BYE Muscle Cars.....yikes

Well, I’m keeping my Hellcat and Redeye and will buy a 69 R/T Charger next year. I’ll keep those until my cremation day. :)

As much as everyone is terrified of the ICE AGE coming to an end, there are a few things you have to consider.

Firstly, parts. Parts for EVs are difficult to get ahold of, if available at all. Meaning only dealerships may have parts, and of course everyone likes to go aftermarket with certain things.

Secondly, the range on these things need to be bumped up well over the topped 300 range. (as far as I know, this is about the top of the line range)

Thirdly, the battery lifespan would need to increase to last more than the estimated 5-7 years. All of you guys know what I mean when I say the expected battery life. They don't last as long as they used to. Even those hybrid batteries/EV batteries don't last like they need to. This is a major stopping factor.

Fourthly, aftermarket repairs need to become more easily accessible before the EV world moves from a minority to a majority.

If they can't make them easily accessible, economically friendly--both price wise and maintenance wise, repairable after warranty by anyone other than the dealership you got robbed at, they won't become the big thing.

These guys can push and push and push... If the government steps in and mandates EVs, they'll have to find some way to make it either accessible by everyone(including low-income houses), or replace all the ICE/DIESEL public transportations with Electronic variants. Meaning, we may see the rise of the trolley again. Subways and trains would become more common-place.

As far as I'm concerned, the ICE AGE is here for a good bit. Longer than any of us will be alive.

Good points and interestingly enough I went to my Ford dealer this evening to pick up my wife’s car for service. When we roll in low and behold the New Ford Mach E is at the dealer. The Ford rep a younger guy is showing her off. He claims 300 miles snd showed is he had gone about 130 miles and mostly hwy backroad. The battery life showed 54% and he claims he drove her fast and hard. The Mach E will be available late December and she’s 40k-50k. He also claims Ford and VW have partnered to Install 50k fast charge stations in comparison to Tesla’s 5k that are proprietary.

They can claim as high a range as they want, I have yet to see an EV that has topped more than 300ish miles. Give or take 50. While that seems like a lot, it's not when it comes to something like an electric semi truck designed for long hauls. Or even a daily driver someone wants to drive to grandma's for the holidays. It doesn't even boil down to me loving ICE cars. It's strictly due to the reliability. If my warranty runs out on an ICE car battery, I can replace it for 150 bucks at any auto parts store. If the same thing happens on my Tesla? It's 2500-10k to get myself a REMANUFACTURED one. Even more for a brand new one. God forbid you get a flat tire in that Tesla. Or hell, even the brakes go out.

Too much unreliable tech right now. It's still in the infancy stage. While I do commend the EV brands for what they're aspiring to do and how far theyve come, they've still got a long ass way to go. Until they can manufacture a way to charge the vehicle while in motion, (yes the kinetic charging motors are a thing but very little help, and the solar panel roofs don't do that much either), to increase the range... They won't be here any time soon.

Now, CC... you can't believe everything people claim... I claim my brake pads are the best pads on the market... But that depends on who you ask. Lol
Right and wish I could say the EV Revolution is not going to happen in a big way. But the world Governments have already put the screws to the Automotive world. The manufacturers have but no choice to change and adapt over the coming years. And yes it won’t happen overnight but the next 10 years will be the biggest advancement of sales than ever before for EV transportation.

It‘s inevitable. We are living in the past right now. You”re not stopping it so just enjoy these cars now. You can either look for a silver lining by staying open to something new and possibly fun from it or you can go kicking and screaming, but it’s coming. Change always scares the hell out of people.

This is the PRIMARY reason I bought my Demon. It was crystal clear that this day was coming sooner rather than later. I wanted the ALL-TIME KING KONG ICE mobile. I believe I got it.

On the consolation side of the fence, the EV cars coming WILL have a subset that are high performance. In fact, eventually, some of those electric cars will eclipse the Demon's 840HP. But for me, I won't care. I WANT the sound and smell of a rumbling exhaust and the sweet whine of a supercharger.

Also, don't get too down. There will be plenty of potent ALL ICE machines available for decades to come. You won't have a shortage of cars powered by petrol to choose from.

0.02

PS Be honest....who expected this INCREDIBLE V2.0 of the muscle car era we have seen over the past decade? So, in some ways we got an extra HUGE bonus. Enjoy it while you can!

If Biden wins on Tuesday (and the senate flips) expect a HUGE push ($$$) into renewables, including EV transportation. All the things you mentioned require investment. So far that hasn't really happened. Not on the scale required anyway. If Trump wins I think your premise is spot on. If Biden wins, expect renewable "hurdles" to be tackled straight on.

What I've never understood is that for more than a century we have generated electricity for "free" by ROTATION. Think hydro or wind turbine electric power.

So a car has 4 wheels CONSTANTLY rotating. How this hasn't been effectively tapped into is a bit mind-boggling.

Just to add to this, I think until they come up with a way to recharge quicker when on the road it isnt going to take take off very quickly. People lined up on the highways at charging stations for hours at a time isnt going to work. Many more hurdles to get over before this actually goes mainstream imo.

the recharge time to me is the bigger barrier then the range. I am good with 300 mile range if it can recharge in 15 minutes
Edited my post to reflect that lol. Agreed. Honestly 15 mins is even long for us Americans. We will be constantly whining about how we couldve filled up our tanks in 5 mins.

yeah, you are right 15 minutes is long compared to gas, but y the time I get snack, go to restroom etc I probably kill 15 minutes at a stop on a road trip
I guess it would be fine for a road trip but I still think 15 mins would cause backups at stations maybe around town at smaller stations if they were similar to today's gas stations. Maybe the key will be superstations with 30 or more "pumps". Should be interesting.

Someone smarter than me can explain it better, but as I understand it, an ice engine is generating the energy causing the wheel rotation. Capturing that energy would produce a resistant parasitic drain that robs horsepower and gas mileage to negate any potential gain.(Kind of like driving with your foot resting on the brake pedal.) EVs already do capture that energy under braking. Wind and hydro is free energy there just isn't enough of it that's easily accessible.
