If Biden wins on Tuesday (and the senate flips) expect a HUGE push ($$$) into renewables, including EV transportation. All the things you mentioned require investment. So far that hasn't really happened. Not on the scale required anyway. If Trump wins I think your premise is spot on. If Biden wins, expect renewable "hurdles" to be tackled straight on.
I'm for Trump in this.. Biden to me is just a joke at this point..

What I've never understood is that for more than a century we have generated electricity for "free" by ROTATION. Think hydro or wind turbine electric power.

So a car has 4 wheels CONSTANTLY rotating. How this hasn't been effectively tapped into is a bit mind-boggling.
Has to do with the way the energy is generated and drawn on. I don't have a proper explanation that won't make me look like I'm trying to fit a cube into a smaller round hole. Lol

Someone smarter than me can explain it better, but as I understand it, an ice engine is generating the energy causing the wheel rotation. Capturing that energy would produce a resistant parasitic drain that robs horsepower and gas mileage to negate any potential gain.(Kind of like driving with your foot resting on the brake pedal.) EVs already do capture that energy under braking. Wind and hydro is free energy there just isn't enough of it that's easily accessible.
Exactly. But relying on hydro, such as a dam requires "destruction of ecosystems." And that is a HUGE deal in today's society... If you can find a way to create a hydro-electric source that won't require a dam or something else to drive the turbines, you would be the next Einstein. My old science teacher used to tell us, "If you can create a new type of battery that lasts longer, pumps out more power, and is ecologically/economically friendly, you'll becomes the richest man in the world."

Can you imagine the blowback if we were trying to build the Panama Canal today?

Well American, Canadian, Mexican, English, Australia and Middle East friends. The dreaded merger IMO is coming to be and us ICE AGE die hards will fund the future of the EV movement. Be sure to read the brief article and it point blank states the mergers goal is to suck the juice out of the ICE AGE sales to develop the EV future. How the hell do we unplug that current of energy thought. Yep us good old boys club buying the Dodge, Jeep and Ram brand is the big ticket PSA and FCA feel will make them a new brand to compete in the world changes. Damn it border line makes me not to want to buy another Dodge, Jeep and Ram product being I am helping the trend of delusion. Anyways I was literally just thinking to myself what happens to the merger and bam this article shows up.

Here is the detailed plan and the new company being based in Netherlands is not comforting while the Peugeot leader would have full control. BYE BYE Muscle Cars.....yikes

First, electric is the future and there is no fighting it. Wave is too big. But it won't be instant (see that other thread on this) or total. Second, I wouldn't say muscle or performance cars will go away. The performance will still be there, just not as noisy. Or go the BMW route and have the speakers play loud exhaust in the cabin, I don't know. I will make this bet - there will still be a majority of ICE cars on the road by the time I die. I just don't see it as the end of the road (well, yes, death, but not electric vehicles). No pun intended.

I guess it would be fine for a road trip but I still think 15 mins would cause backups at stations maybe around town at smaller stations if they were similar to today's gas stations. Maybe the key will be superstations with 30 or more "pumps". Should be interesting.
See the other thread on this topic. At the beginning of the auto age people ridiculed the idea that it would be practical. Did people expect there would be a store selling petroleum products for such vehicles on every street corner? Fantasy! The infrastructure itself would take decades to build and no one would invest that kind of money on something as speculative as that! and the fire danger! and the smell! and the noise!

Same thing now.

It would've been sabotaged from the beginning. Anyone who stood for it would be seen as monsters.

I don't think that's the best analogy really... if I recall correctly we basically helped Panama secede from Columbia when the Columbians would not accept our offer to lease the land for the canal in perpetuity...

That kind of thing is a no no nowadays. That would be like China helping Texas succeed from the Union when the President refused to let them buy land here for factory. A joke analogy because Columbia event then was incredibly weaker compared to the US than US/China today. But China does do these things in less powerful countries.... especially in Latin America and Africa right now.
