What are the stock fuel rails made of?

Stock fuel rail material, are they steel or ? Appears so by the braised joints.

Just tested them, they are not magnetic whatsoever, even with a super strong magnet no part of them not even the mounts is magnetic, They must be stainless steel of some sort, maybe 306 304 something of that nature because they are not magnetic whatsoever

Thanks! I'm looking at welding a -6AN bung on the end of the driver side rail to make fuel changes easy peasy. Was curious what kinda material it would require.

No, they drilled way to hard for any type of aluminum, it’s a non magnetic steel of some sort no doubt. But could be plated copper??? I’ll be drilling another set in the near future I’ll do some closer inspection of the chips.

I bet they're stainless. @16GoManGoHC2 you're a sharp guy with experience. What do you think about a 6AN bung welded to the front end of the passenger side fuel rail. Then capping it off with a flare cap. I've found stainless steel bungs no problem, but so far haven't found anything but aluminum 6AN flare caps. Anodized would hold up to the E85, but I'm wondering about any o-rings inside the cap etc. Main concern would be a future fuel leak when I'm WOT at 140+ on the top of the track.

Take a look at these caps. There shouldn’t be any orings in them to worry about, they seal on the tapered flare. My only worry with welding a flared fitting to one of the end caps would be getting it so hot you melt the brazing that holds the cap on the end of the tube And the cap falls off while your welding with the fitting in it. I like your idea of having some way to drain your fuel easily but I don’t know how I would do it yet at the moment myself short of disconnecting the fuel line from the fuel rail which makes a little bit of a mess I agree. The material the is Cap made out of is too thin to successfully thread

The brazed cap on the fuel rail may just need to be removed and the bung inserted. I can't take credit for the idea, I saw a Hellcat at ChallengerFest that had this setup for swapping fuels. Sure would make it quick and easy going from 93 to E85 to race fuel when desired.

I tried to find an adapter like one might use for a nitrous setup, but the way they would connect in to the system would make the bung difficult to reach I'm afraid.

Now that sounds more plausible, somewhere in this thread is the ID of the stock fuel rail, from memory it’s .625 or .675. Find a fitting with bigger threaded end then this, cut the cap off the fuel rail, turn down the threaded end of the fitting in a lathe for a tap fit into the fuel rail and then weld around the parting line. It would look great and be strong as hell. I have another set of fuel rails on the bench I could get the ID of the tune again pretty quickly and I’ll post it for you.

Don't braze them, tig instead...much more controllable heat and weld area.
