Damn, wish I would have known.

I wonder what options would be closed.

I'd be interested in a B5 hellcat wb challenger
Sorry if you said this in recent weeks. I know pre 3/20 u were positioned to get a D170. Is that no longer in the cards?

Well, I don't quite see why anyone would have to pay a big ADM, for anything.

Okay, if a doctor says that for an extra $30K I can probably keep you alive, I'd most likely be willing. But for something I don't need....

It's a bit like when I sell a vehicle, I don't mind getting paid as much for it as the market will support.

It's a bit different, when your "want" overrides the "need" part of the brain, I have that disorder. Being retired, after fifty years of working and the means to purchase, it's difficult to pass on a 170. When the ADM gets beyond stupid, the brain starts to operate normally, again. The 100K over, was the trigger point and the "boss" gave me the "look!" I continue to call and follow-up on any lead, no luck, yet...

It is if I wanted to pay 100k for the allocation.
It is probably gone now or the dealer is keeping it.

Dealer 1. No allocation
Dealer 2. I was on the list at MSRP they only got 7 and I was 9 or something like that.
Dealer 3. Night of the reveal, I was going to pay a small mark up and the GM had no one that even asked about the car.
Next day the owner said he was putting all his allocations up for bids and was keeping the last one for himself. Among his chain he got 3 or 4. Lowest bid was 125k.

Days later, another dealer on FB was advertising 100k allocation. I sent a few messages and kept getting a run around. That pissed me off but for a few hours, I was ready to play ball.
Calmed down, reevaluated my situation and what it would take to scratch up the extra 100k and decided I did not want to do that.

So now, I either wait for these cars to show up on dealer lots and see what the market holds. Or I will I try and and find a Hellcat.

A D170 in my possession will get raced a lot and probably modified. I don't care that it might be worth 500k in 4 years.

We really like our Shaker. Fun to drive.
My buddy has a 20 scat wb.
Its a hoot to drive even with 485hp.

I've always had in the back of my head a 426 Scat that RS said was coming but that engine program got the axe at FCA.
Now with the AFR heads, i'd be interested in building a wild 426 hemi and see if it can be on par with a tuned up LS7. 600whp with a stick in a scat pack would be one hell of a fun street car.

I'd rather Dodge get the $$$
They are the ones making the cool cars we want.
Dealership provides nothing in the transaction other than being a delivery point
Agreed but you can only control what you can control.

We use ours for cruising. Car meets, Sick Week, Hot Rod Power Tour, things like that. Comfort and lots of fun and enough power for the street.

Well, its worth a shot.
Local dealer still sitting on a pair of scat packs. Might grab a shaker if nothing else materializes.
I would put my unallocated order in asap, hope it gets picked up and then look around at other options.

Like I said, no deposit and nobody pushing you? Easy choice

I have always maintained that 500hp is all you need on the street, anything over it is for the individuals own fun, but you got some guys like on this forum that want more like 850ish, then you have guys like @Jon-MooredPerformanceLLC, speedy, @vortecd, etc etc who want more than that aka the crazies 🤪

I forgot you and me are on that level of wild too, me and Jon were running over options for the hellcat a while ago before I decided to wait and see if dodge would build me a redeye. Being honest jon kinda swayed me to the redeye after he told me what all it came with stock, hellcat was gonna need a fuel pump and some other misc stuff versus the redeye I could just run with a pulley and injectors. He's a bad influence on me lol

Mine was already started before I contacted Jon about tuning it. He got it straightened out and the safety stuff turned back on. It's a beast now.

I remember hearing something about it, he's a heck of a tuner and an honest one at that. I told him he has a future in full time tuning but he said he likes it as a side hustle so he can actually enjoy it and not feel like it's work. Good on him,

I would consider him one of the go to guys for hellcats and cars in general, he did both of our explorer st's and the car feels light years away from stock, there's a bigger and more recommended tuner out there for the ecoboosts but the thing about jon is he understands the limits and usage of these cars, hellcat is a racecar and explorer st isn't, hard to find tuners who want to build safe and reliable cars..... most just want to push it to the limit and suck as much hp out of it as they can.

You guys are making me miss my SXT.

If going slowly, might as well get good gas mileage.

Umm, if you ever looked at the size of the bits under an SXT (compared to a 'Cat), you wouldn't want to open the valve on that bottle.

Good luck! maybe a dealer gets cold feel right around D day (pun intended)...May 15

Agreed but you can only control what you can control.
True but this brings up an interesting point. Dodge (and other OEM's) have to know that when they put out a high-demand car, there will be ADMs, sometimes huge as is the case with the D170. Given this, why don't their bean counters push for a (much) higher MSRP?

I know what I've said about the D170 serving as a needed gift for the dealers since they were going to be on an EV diet starting in 2024. But more generally speaking why do OEMs PURPOSEFULLY lowball themselves/their bottom line? If I ever meet Tim in person this is a question I definitely will ask him.

Very odd...

PS A good example is the Gen 2 (05-06) and Gen 3 (17-20) Ford GT. CLEARLY, they could have asked for 50% more for the car (esp Gen 3), based on -real- market value. And yet Ford declined to do so and left a shitton of $ on the table.
