Mechanic says dual pump is hard wired and asking permission to cut wires. he says it needs to be done to test level sensors. Sound right?

Mine does that. I have fuel pumps and I 100% have a fuel level issue. On my list to pull pumps and fix the arm. Your arm is probably hung up on the wires

Can almost 100% guarantee you need to tie back the wires on that pump hat inside the tank.

Since I was already there TWICE I just replaced the sender in 2022.

About to go back in and do it A THIRD TIME. FML.

The card itself is only like 115 at the dealer and 125 thru Tapp who obvs gets them from the dealer first. Either way...cheap enough to do yearly if that's your thing.

They said the main sensor has a dead spot and the other model what ever that means has a broken housing. 1700 with parts and labor! It is a livernois dual pump.

He explained it further. On the passenger side the sensor sits inside a housing. The housing is broken. An 875 dollar part from the dealer.

Is that jet pump housing actually cracked? Literally HOW.

But...the cracked housing aside...which yes. Is expensive unfortunately...

Those orange cards and float arms? Dirt cheap. Like I said. About 110-130 a pop. And they can easily be purchased separately.

even that jet pump housing assembly should be cheaper than 875...but ive never seen that happen before either so...

I wish I knew more about cars. I see the crack. I wonder if they cracked it?

Yep. 788 through tapped performance. So 875 or so is not unreasonable. I will never know who cracked it.

Mine actually blinks the fuel light on the dash and says service fuel sensor. No cel. Read BCM faults and it was a fault the ground/short on the fuel level sensor. Pretty positive it’s just hung up on the wires and not bad. Next on my list. Happened after running tank below 1/4 on e85 several times and full refill

F it! I will just pay them! The livernois unit has been great. I do also have a boost a pump. I bet that is not working. Someone told me the 30 amp fuse on this blows and to use a 40 amp fuse. I am clueless with this stuff!

How the hell did he get the pump out in one piece
They called me and asked permission to cut the wires. Does that answer your question as I know zilch on this stuff.

Not really, you have to lower the bottom part into the tank and then align the top lid, not drop o rings and the. Screw it in. So wondering how they got it out without taking the top hat off

I’ve never heard of the passenger Venturi pump breaking or going bad no reason to remove it for pump install. Looks like he broke it ripping it out in an angle to be honest

The twin pumps don’t actually deliver fuel to the engine. The passenger “pump” does. Driver side twin pumps trans fuel to the other side of the saddle tank

If you look at it do you see that vertical scratch? Well they have me over the barrel. Can’t accuse them of breaking it.

Interesting. So basically the drivers side one keeps the pressure up in the passenger one.
