Possible Supercharger Bearing Failure.

Yeah... at my last oil change, I noticed the dreaded bearing noise... and it's getting louder.

Have an appointment with the dealer, Wednesday. Anyone have a Star Report Number I can give him, to look up?

My 5 year powertrain warranty is good for another 12 months. No problems as of yet but an itty bitty part of me hopes the bearings crap out before then.

Just curious, how many miles? I know that's not really "the" issue but would like to know. I believe @Paladin06 said he replaced his a few times and car was relatively new, so it's not really a mileage thing. Still would like to know. Thanks.

You faired pretty well if that's the prob. Like I said, some of these guys had problems within months. Hope all goes as smooth as poss. That is a huge PIA and super aggravating when it's failure from defect and not abuse.

In my case I have a very low number 2015. These had known bad bearings in the SC. Maybe more correctly it was a bad bearing installation. I’ve had no issues since replacements.

That's a bummer. But on the good side, it happened right before the end of your warranty. My 15 started sounding at 44k, took it in and they swapped it under warranty no questions asked. They gave me 68271244-AG, that was in April 2019. Now I'm 46k and no issues since.

The shutdown is a telltale sign, but you can hear it, while the engine is running. Also, it doesn't go away, as the engine warms up.

So far, so good.

The service writer heard it, right away and was optimistic about ordering a fresh SC.

Will know, tomorrow, when his SRT tech looks at it.

Also, I'll get my car back, until the parts arrive, if and when they are ordered
