Lol nothing like cross fire injection that lasted exactly one year in the Corvette before they got rid of it. That was a nightmare that i’m sure GM has banned from ever being mentioned in the board room [?|]

I was 15. I remembered it vividly. So much new tech it blew my mind. 😂

If the cross-fire injection was an abomination, that commercial hasn't aged well either. Both are never to be discussed at Renaissance Center in Detroit.

Don’t they have some sort of opti-spark garbage ignition in those?
They do but its not as much of an issue as you've probably read about. I had several LT1 powered vehicles with the Optispark distributor and never had any issues.

I had a 1983 Z-28 with Cross-Fire injection. It was a fancy name for dual TB injection. The car only made 185hp, but it was my second car and I was only 17 so I loved it at that time.

I had one of those too. I had 1987 IROC-Z and a 1991 Z-28 which was basically the same with updated body. That was the start though of the HP come-back that crushed cars in the late 70s and early 80s. The 1987 IROC-Z with 240HP 350ci and of course its direct competitor, the 5.0 Mustang with 225HP, then there was the beastly 1987 Buick GN with 245HP. Those were great times. Those cars would feel slow today but they weren't back then.

I've only recently been a MOPAR guy, I was a life long Chevy fan before 2006 when I bought a 2006 Charger SRT8. Where was MOPAR in those days? I never heard of any performance MOPARs in that era.

Oh hell yeah.....and with the re-enlistment multiples they were offering in the mid '80's I saw tons of people getting themselves fancy new Z-28's. You would've thought that Tuttle-Click Chevrolet in Irvine had opened a branch dealership at El Toro with all of the new Camaros on base. It was the standing joke for awhile that you could tell who had just re-enlisted.

Lee Iacocca had to right the Chrysler ship with mini vans and K cars. 😂 But bringing in Shelby on some models was a start in the right direction, then came the Viper.

Here's a terrifying thought.

Back then, those cars were the shit...

In forty years, will Hellcats be in the same boat???:(
