Why would it be upbadging? Everyone was replacing their stock black belt back with the HD green belts when these cars came out in ‘15 and it wasnt upbadging then....

In my opinion; upbadging can only take place if you go from a N/A engine to a blower Hemi and get the Hellcat software, drive train, rear end, and basically take a 392 Scat Pack and put all of the Hellcat pieces and parts into it, then put a Hellcat badge on it.

Thus Hellcat to Red Eye to Demon is the same steps..

But in short; changing a belt or pulley is not upbadging in my opinion. We are just increasing the current platform's output.

In the end; it is "your" car...do what you want to it.
I might put a demon badge on my Red Eye Charger next year...maybe and maybe NOT LOL!

I was searching around trying to find out what the green belt does aside from raising eyebrows at the dealership when you take it in for service.

I wouldn't consider it upbadging though. Pretty much what Dman wrote above is consider upbadging haha ^^^^

Intent matters here...

If you're swapping out to try to look like a RE, then it's Upbadging.

If you're swapping out because of a pulley swap, spacer install, or even just to run the supposedly better belt, then no...

(However you must commission a plaque that is placed on the radiator support that clearly states why you have a green belt. If you don't, then the Kangaroo Court finds you guilty of Upbadging.)

So what is the benefit, better grip on the pulleys, or durability maybe? Theres not much else a belt can do.

Up badging is literally what the name says, so let's say you have a hellcat but want the redeye badge....and put it on then that's upbadging.

Really you see upbadging in sxts, gt's and r/t hemi's (non 392), everyone else is usually proud of what they got, scat packs, hellcats, redeyes, etc etc

My Hellcrate engine is a '17 model, per the information that came with it, for any type of items you may need for it. It's a 707hp Hell Cat engine and came with the green belt, like what is on my '19 Red Eye. I assumed the '17 model Hell Cat cars have the green belt. True - not true?

Got a upbadging example for you though. Went into the Chevron near my home where I always go. One day I saw a Granite Challenger SE or SXT parked in front of the store, backed into the spot. I noticed yellow protectors on the front spoiler and Hell Cat badges on the fenders. As I got close to it, I realized the protectors were yellow tubing that had been slit and put over the edges of the splitter. lol When I got inside, there was only one guy there that had to be the owner. Young kid from south of the border. I asked him if he knew his car was an upbadged 6 cyl car. He responded that he had a Hellcat engine and all the other things to go with it at home that he still had to install. I chuckled and told him I'd stop by and show him a real Hell Cat Red Eye. That was six months ago or more. I still see the car there from time to time but each time I've been in my truck...
