yep, they definitely did the right thing to deal with the programming errors and salvage the contest by adding another car and drawing, but you would cry if I told you how many hours I wasted last week thinking my work was incorrect - I was about ready to surrender my engineering degree and PE licenses

Ok...so this week you can redeem yourself and put those credentials to fantastic use by getting the correct answer and PM'ing it to me. Don't forget to show your work for full credit

I am dog tired from all the sleep I lost last week - I am not sure when I will actually get started on the physics end of it for Week 2...but I will at some point, because I love this stuff and a challenge. I had a dream of Goldberg delivering my new Redeye, and taking him to In-N-Out burger to celebrate

This is how I calculated the answer. Not sure if it will help or add more confusion.

I'm still surprised that FCA is making this tougher than I think it needs to be. IMO

I must have slept through this math class in high school and college because I had to get my son involved to make sure it was correct.

GOD help me on the week 2 question. Geeshhh....makes my head hurt just thinking about it...

The email that I got from Dodge says that they are adding a 6th car to the equation. The people who put 4:16 will have a drawing for a car, as well as the people who put the "real" correct answer will have a drawing for a car. So, no one is getting left out.

"Thanks again for participating in the Horsepower Challenge. Due to a system error, participants who responded to Question 1 with the answer “4:16 minutes.” were notified that this was the correct answer. Unfortunately, this is not the case.
However, to remedy this, we will be doing a drawing from among all eligible entries who were notified “4:16” was the correct answer AND we are adding a sixth car so you still have a chance to WIN your very own Special Edition 2019 Challenger Hellcat Redeye.

Thank you for understanding and we wish you the best of luck."

My apologies, i was not clear, my comment primarily concerned people, like my son, who put in 3 91 on the 1st day and were told they got the wrong answer. He never got an email saying "sorry, we put you back in the mix."

I'm not totally sure on this but, I believe there were two answers that were similar with the 392 idea.

One was 3:91 or 4:31 or something like that and the other was 3 minutes and 91 seconds. Obviously, we now know that 3 minutes and 91 seconds was the correct one. Tricky...

I know the feeling. My son laughed off many of the generalities that apparently existed in the question. Hell, he actually pulled up actual distances and many other factors that would come in to play in the real world. Apparently, it could have been a lot worse to figure out. Right angles, hypotenuse, Pythagorean Theorem, holy sh-t.... things you never thought you would need to know later in life... I'm still in recovery mode...

See...they conveniently left out the part about their velocity measurement already including the slope angle. I was trying to solve for that, and got confused. I kept getting in deeper and deeper the more equations I opened. I got so far in, that I completely spaced figuring the partial and final distance/time calcs and came up with a number that i knew wasn't correct. Then I added some kentucky windage to it and took my WAG, which turned out to ultimately be incorrect. Pretty much as I figured it would be.

Now the question remains is everyone getting that email about the programming glitch...or just the people who entered 4:16 and are eligible for the drawing for that situation?

Correct, he didn't get that email because when he put in his wrong answer, he was told right then that it was wrong, and it was wrong. I...and a few others it seems selected 4:16 and were told that our answer was correct, when in actuality it wasn't. But...we were told that due to a programming error. Now...Dodge could easily have said too bad, you got the wrong answer and sorry we fooled you, but they didn't say that. For whatever reason, they are trying to make good on it all and adding another car to the mix, and having a drawing for those of us who they told were correct, and weren't. I'm guessing the biggest reason would be that they figure it's cheaper to avoid the lawsuits and the bad press, and just give away another car, which is all you would've gotten to begin with.

The initial answer I selected is STILL there after entering the first hashtag from today...

Agree. I only have quickly skimmed the video and the problem, but the physical "givens" look more crisp this time, but I already see spelling errors, bad grammar, and duplicate answer choices in the full 85 answer set

I'll have to go on a small "Indiana Jones"type mission to dig that thing out of storage. I'm sure I still have at least one of them......I'll work on that in the near future.

And Mr. Cook had some awesome cars when I was in high school. He had a few Studebakers, including a Golden Hawk and an Avanti. He had this awesome bone stock '67 GTO with buckets and console, and it was a sweet ride.

I just got an email from ResumeSpeed.

He said that word came down from the highest levels in Brampton, that he could not discuss the Horsepower Challenge in any way.

No problem solving hints or assistance, No translation of weekly questions, No hashtag giveaways, No vehicle tracking, No color selection thoughts, No option details, No nothing.

What the hell... it's just like ordering my redeye in 2018 all over again... I'm lost and all alone....
