That opportunity is NOT offered to skilled trades, maybe he's an engineer or some other sort of higher management position? Trades do move into those types of positions on a regular basis.

I'll have to ask him. When he moved here, he had transferred to Lansing GM from Flint doing skilled trades. He then took a job with FCA/Stellantis. (Not sure which one it was at the time.)

Somehow I knew as soon as Jroyk posted that he knows someone from Stelantis, that his job position would come into question for further insight to what may or may not be planned or coming our way. It was a given certainty which is not a bad thing.

Just to clarify, I had never met the guy in the barber shop that works at the proving grounds. The neighbor that I do know has no knowledge of what’s coming performance wise.

Sounds like you are describing NFL franchises when they threaten to relocate. I think we have a theme. Unbridled capitalism (with no social guardrails) isn't much better than the universally vilified socialism.

Like most things humans touch, moderation of thought and action never seems to win out over the extremes.
