Finally cycled back to this. Fuse was good & I hunted down a new relay @ AutoZone for $18. That did the trick.
I did have an oh shit moment checking the fuse when I fumbled the little yellow (thank God) fuse puller trying to get it back on it's tiny holding post in the fuse box. It slid down the fender liner & clattered around somewhere in the nether regions of the front fascia - figured it was gone for good and at least wasn't near anything that could melt it & make a gooey, smelly, smokey mess.
Decided to get the shop light & have a peek anyway & there hiding under some wires & a sensor was a bit of yellow. Took a few tries, but was able to snag it with my flexible grabber tool. All of that reinforced just why I don't work on my cars any more
