In this case the tire is heavier than the wheel so more tire and less wheel probably wouldn’t be lighter. I do not like the larger sidewall on frontrunners.
I was wondering that

My wheels are 18" fronts.....Racestar Darkstar and are light for what they cost....MT doesn't have an 18 that I see Hoosier may be the one....its about 10lbs lighter than my current m&h.

The Mickey Thompson sportsman radial, heavy at 25 pounds, is only rated to 130 mph. The other lighter radial they make has too low of a load. The thing about the super light hoosier is they do not give specs. There can't be a lot of strength in them at 12 pounds a piece. I have used them. But I wonder.

??? I saw a Viper run 260 mph on Sportsman radial. I was on that tire at 183 in the half at 4500 lbs. I’m currently running the MT front that’s half the weight of the Sportsman and near 170 in the 1/4 last time out. Plans are to run 200 on that tire. Stop worrying

I think he’s talking about the et street fronts, which is what I have. Weight rating is a lot less than the sportsmans, but I’ve ran them without issue

I do like those as they are radials. Radials have less rolling resistance. I do not know the formula even if there is one comparing a lighter bias with more rolling resistance compared to a heavier radial.
