So, I have a brand of shorts and and pants that have zippers on pockets in the upper thigh area. When I pocket carry (basically all the time) I have discovered that the zipper has scratched the bottom of the steering wheel. I'll post some pics a little later. Anyone run into something like this before? Looks like the steering wheel is painted instead of a solid color body material. Only option to replace the whole unit?

I'll wear my non-zipper bearing shorts and pants from now on.

I would caution against that practice....I believe lewd and lascivious behavior is @ the very least frowned on..and may be illegal even in Texas:oops::censored:

See below. I believe when entering the car the zipper drags across the underside of the bottom wheel center piece. Red Eye Steering Wheel Scratch.jpg

I’d be tempted to find a new steering wheel…and replace the scratched door panel

It's normally at the bottom where you can't see it, I wouldn't worry about it. Or paint it with dull aluminum paint.

The steering wheel should be able to tilt.
My 15 did. Both my 16s did and my 19 does.

It’s fine. If it bothers you wrap it or take the plastic off and paint it. Leave the steering wheel up when you get out of the car to prevent it going forwards

After almost 10 years of ownership I’ve learned to look past the small imperfections

submit an insurance claim. Say a bear broke into your car and clawed the steering wheel.

Funny thing, I was out racing two weeks ago. My steering wheel needed adjusted for the 1st time ever.
I discovered the little round toggle switch. You can see it in the picture, its right below the WW arm.
All these years and I never knew it was there. Kate and I thought that was pretty cool.
