I like definitely like the UPR over the BT in both looks and functionality.

Didn't think you would be into that. Thought you were strictly nuts 'n bolts. That is totally cool. Love it.
Yes, Once in a blue moon it’s something easy, these took like 5 minutes per side, easiest addition I’ve ever done on the cat I think lol

Sure wish there was a smooth bore throttle body tube that was plug and play for the 19 CAI.
I have a feeling that would help the SC sound resonate more.
But what you have been doing to your Challenger is awesome!
Wait a minute......
I bet you used to work on helicopters, didn't you!?!?
:unsure:;):LOL::ROFLMAO::LOL:

Sure wish I would have stayed in Long enough to work on them!
Got a tour of their testing at Yuma.
Told my CO I would re - enlist if I could go to school for those.
He said there were no schools for it yet, so I got out..
Always regretted that decision.

Helicopter?

What?

You guys and your tiny little helicopters... I looked at the Intermediate on a huey once... Couldn't believe what I was seeing... It wasn't anybigger than two of my fists put together... What the hell is that?

(Maybe we need another thread so we can compare pen.. helicopter sizes?)

In reality, the cobra and the huey have the same structural bones.
No clue on the apache or 60.
I know that when a 53 would fly over, it was a sight.
Especially after watching AH and UH-1's all the time

Dropped in a pair of SKAR Audio 500 watt 10" subs. Still tuning, but so much better than the cheesy OEM HK woofers.

Admittedly Bob I know nothing about audio but I do think the factory HK system is sort of weak. I have a Challenger as well. What kind of ohms would a replacement sub need to have and what is the maximum depth that could be put in that enclosure? Can I get a part number on these subs or something equivalent? Have you added additional power? Finally when you say tuning are you just talking about the equalizer? Thanks.

Well... this is in a Charger, which did not come equipped with the dual sub box. Thst being said, when I added the box, I rewired the OEM HK woofers for an 8 ohm load and powered them with an old Kicker ZX400.1 Class D monoblock amp. That gave me a 100 watt output, which suited the OEM HK woofers just fine. They are rated at about 75 watts RMS... so it was a matter of time before they melted down. LOL.

I've done led color mods, on a few cars, lately and had a small paypal stash... so I sprung for the subs.

We're working with a 5.75" mounting depth, so a low profile subwoofer is just what the doctor ordered. These VD-10 SKAR Audio DVC subs are rated at 500 watts at 2 ohms... with a 4.78" mounting depth.

I will be posting a thread, with more details, on this mod. Suffice it to say, if you're upgrading the subs, add a dedicated sub amp, to power the box. The factory cabin amp will absolutely not power an aftermarket speaker.

The ohm rating on the subs you go with, will depend on how you wire them, in the box and what load your amp is stable down to. For example, my amp is rated for 400 watts, at 2 ohms.

My voice coils are wired in series, for a 4 ohm load, then the speakers are wired together in parallel, for a total amp load of 2 ohms.

As for tuning, my amp crossover, gain and boost are all set at null, so I will have to tweak the actual amp settings, for the best imaging. This is best done with the volume at, or above 22, in order to compensate for the bass "roll off" that is programmed into the cabin amp.

I know... uber technical, but I'm here to help. If you want to do this, shoot me a PM and I'll walk you through it... or anyone else, for that matter.

Long winded, I know... but there you go!

Boring as this sounds, I put some miles on her today. We do a benefit/charity for one of the animal shelters way out east on Long Island. We did the benefit (which my wife completely does almost herself) and then came home. My wife says " I forgot the original sign with the charity name on it from the first day five years ago!" I said "no problem little lady, I will fetch it for you". So hero that I am I filled up the new RE and went right out there to get it (What a guy!). 60+ miles each way so now she has @140 mi on her from the 8 mi delivered last week. That much closer to break in and sending it. LOL. But it's all for the cause and now God likes me.

Thanks Bob. This is what I needed to know as now its going to cost more than a few subs. Im going to hold off a bit then and continue adding money to help get the car to hook. Thanks again.
