That's a replacement sock. Isn't it 31 microns? Definitely better than nothing.

Exactly. But it's not the stock one. Much better than nothing. Would actually make a nice step down filtering system.

Just my peanut gallery opinion.

Everyone who runs dual pumps returnless has these… and they’re the stock TI pump sock, Stock pump is TI, which run with a secondary FPCM. Where are you getting they’re more than 31 micron @DavidKFla? Honestly want to know, not saying you’re wrong.

Generally the stock sock is larger when it comes to filtering sizes ( in microns). The aftermarket replacement ones can be a smaller micron filter, which is nice.

On ID’s website they state that Bosch says anything larger than 35 micron can damage their fuel injectors. 31 micron two times (driver and passenger jet pump) should be sufficient. Obviously they recommended 5 micron lol

also, I’m still not convinced an injector stuck open (rich) would melt a piston. Something else at play here. More like ringland issue causing a lean condition

That’s what I’m saying though, dodge used TI pumps, basically the largest streetable one they could put in there. So the 31 micron offering isn’t aftermarket, it’s what they come with

So was it determined that the cylinder was starved of fuel and this caused the failure?

I'm just pointing out that it's a possibility for it to happen and stirring the pot at the same time.

I'm standing on my soap box proclaiming that better fuel filtering should be added to any modded car.

With this proclamation I now sit down.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

No idea. Seems we have no real conclusion. Engine blew up, two injectors also happened to have failed but nothing in the log I sent Jon seems to lend to an injector issue. Engines have also blown up the same way without injectors going down, so it seems it's not even a requirement for this type of failure. Yet, not one, but two of my injectors failed after only 4000 miles. Very confusing.

Car is back at the shop for rebuild. Should be mostly finished by Friday I'm told, so definitely pickup and tuning next week! Almost there.

Update is we're held up by the FI Interchiller install. New AC lines were required because this is a redeye and not a regular hellcat and we also ended up discussing a reservoir which needs to be sourced or fabricated, to get the most out of the system along with a pump. It sounds like fabricating may be the way we go and would keep the delay and cost to a minimum but we'll chat about that today. The lines will be here Friday and the pump will come quickly from FI since these guys are a dealer.

If the delay would be too long, I'll just have them throw the damn engine in it and get me on my way and I can come back in the spring for the interchiller install. Engine is ready to go and has been. They just want to use the space in the engine bay to make the install easier if possible.
