V86 Emissions Recall

Just got a recall notification thru Uconnect today. Looks like it’s V86 for the cat converters.

Hell I haven’t done UB4 yet😏.

At the dealership reviewing this recall with my tech. Apparently their have been numerous cases of Cat failures on Demons, Hellcats and several other FCA vehicles. There is a high back order for replacement parts. Having mine done next week.

See if you can get them to take internal comparison pictures down the throat of them. I'd like to compare the grid visually.

I tend to wait a little before I have these recalls done. Back in '11 when I had my SRT8, there was a recall on the proximity door handles. Had them replaced under a recall. 1 month later, I received a letter stating that the replaced door handles that were just replaced were found to be defective too.......ridiculous.

I just had this recall completed while I had my Demon drive shaft installed. I will be picking up the car this evening I will let you know what the deal is with it. Looking up the history on mopar.com I saw "R40/ NHTSA 15V-461" was completed. That one was the one that locked the infotainment center and other modules in the vehicle after they demonstrated hitting the brakes and putting a Jeep in a ditch on the Sprint backbone network.

This is what I was led to believe by the parts department. I paid for part "53010678AJ". When I looked up that part # I got the following:


Dodge Challenger 2019 SRT Hellcat, SRT Hellcat Redeye6.2L V8 - Gas
Dodge Challenger 2018 SRT Demon, SRT Hellcat6.2L V8 - Gas
DodgeChallenger, 2017SRT Hellcat6.2L V8 - Gas

I did some digging as you gave me a moment of doubt and found that the part number is 53010846AB, so I may not have the part. This makes me sad.

I wont bother replacing any emission components until my car fails inspection. Im not leaving it at the dealer just on their say so.

FYI - they had a Demon in the shop with bad cat converters. They are being replaced today. I have my appointment scheduled for next Monday.

Good deal , I guess their replacing the whole mid pipe section with the cats ?... not cutting them out & welding back in.

Replace the entire section, sorry if that wasn't clear. The entire mid pipe with the cat. Also new narrowband and wideband sensors and a PCM flash.
