Is there a better way to change an oil filter?

Can't say that I remember being bothered by oil running down outside the filter, but have noticed that much more comes out of the cooler's drain plug if removing that one before the filter.

Guess that could mean there's less in the filter afterwards. Either way, always drain all vehicles when the oil is hot, and none of them have killed or maimed me yet.

And even if I ended up with second degree burns, I'd prefer that over someone else doing the oil change.
Doing cooler last there is not much in it so to what you are saying it may be coming out the filter hole when doing filter before. There was maybe a couple caps worth of oil when I did do the cooler last that I stopped doing it, waste of time

I still prefer doing it cold. After the car has sat for many hours the oil has fully drained from the top of the engine, plus it isn't hot

Well, I like to drain the oil while as much crap as possible is still in suspense in the oil. In other words, very shortly after driving the vehicle.

I also don't care how much oil comes out of the cooler per se, but want the sediment trapped at the drain out of there. More flow helps with that.

And if I can let the vehicle sit with the drain plugs open for several hours, that's great.

probably. He makes lots of videos, that was just an example of who he is. He had a 392 car that he did a lot to and has been running the Hellcat for a few years now. He normally does a live chat on saturday nights and some during the week

Cut a 2 liter coke bottle in half and the oil will pour into it as you unthread the filter

I use these when I change my oil. Not worried about a bit of oil on my hands as a result.
